Do you love yourself? If not, do you even know how?
Did you become your own best friend over the years? If not, why not?
When we are alone with ourselves, instead of feeling bored or lonely, that time would be much better spent by looking inwards and introspecting.
If the imposed social distancing has a silver lining, this is one of them. It has given us a chance to slow down and look inwards.
It has given us a chance to think about what truly matters in life. Our family, our health (physical, mental and spiritual), and more importantly our happiness.
Since the start of the pandemic in 2020 we have seen a steady growing increase in depression. People are feeling lonely and lost and the solution is not inside your cell phone.
However, there is a simple solution to this. Put the phone down and learn to love yourself and become your own best friend.
Become Your Own Best Friend
So why should we become our own best friend? Why should we love ourselves?
Well the answer is simple. When you love yourself, only then can you truly love others.
Loving yourself and being your own best friend is as important as breathing!
This will not cause you to become selfish, self-centered or narcissistic. Being confident doesn’t mean cocky. On the contrary, it will make you more loving, attentive and compassionate towards others.

If you don’t or can’t love yourself first, how can you truly spread love to others?
This physical life or shared human experience is a journey of the soul. The purpose of the journey is to evolve through experiences and to learn through feelings & relationships.
It’s a chance for the soul to find balance, good karma and purpose. How can this be accomplished if you don’t have a personal relationship with yourself?
Love Yourself
The importance of self-love cannot be understated. You are your only eternal lifelong companion, period.
So, if we learn to love ourselves and be our own best friend, life would be a lot easier.
When you are your own best friend and love yourself, you’ll never be lonely.
You’re able to enjoy your own company and be completely comfortable in your own skin while hanging solo. When you’re this comfortable and acquainted with yourself people will graduate towards you.
On occasion you’re invited to crash parties, weddings, family reunions and group dinners all because you’re confidently rolling solo while enjoying the pleasure of your own company.
Become Your Own Best Friend & Talk To Yourself

Self-communication is also very important. Talk to yourself, out loud in the mirror or while laying in bed.
Go somewhere where you can be alone for a few minutes every day and talk to yourself out loud, just like you would talk to other people.
Sounds stupid? Why do you think the church used to charge for “confessions”? Because it worked! When you speak e.g. your worries out loud you will feel better afterwards!
Discuss your thoughts, fears, ideas, worries, etc, with yourself as if you are talking to somebody else.
In time, you will be amazed by the answers and revelations you’ll experience as a result of vocal self reflection.
The same is true for vocal affirmations. Basically vocal self reflection empties you out and humbles the soul. Vocal affirmations fills you up and elevates the spirit.
Engage Your Higher Self
In truth, the positive, loving and powerful ideas or daily affirmations you are repeating is coming from your “Higher Self”. That part of your soul which is always in the higher spiritual realms.
So, channel that love from the cosmos through you and build it up. Then spread it outwards. Be the love. Be the receiver, transformer and transmitter of that divine love.
Know that you can become your own best friend and nobody can make you sad, lonely or unhappy unless you permit it.
Become Your Own Best Friend & Enjoy Yourself
If you have friends, family or a partner in your life, good, if not, well that’s alright too. You are the only person that will always be there for you. This is a fact not a possibility.
So, stop looking outward for love, friendship and a sense of belonging which will never last and most likely disappoint you.
Instead look inward for that same love, friendship and sense of belonging within one’s own skin. This is much more fulfilling.
So, invest time and energy into building a loving relationship with yourself. This will make you happier in your daily life.
Soon you’ll realize that true happiness is dependent on the relationship you have with only one person and that person is you!
The love you show yourself coupled with a healthy relationship with one’s self is the key to true enlightenment, peace and inner joy.
